These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of www.theaivalues.org (the "Site") and all services, programmes, content, and resources provided by The AI Values Institute ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. About The AI Values Institute

The AI Values Institute is a global mission-driven organisation whose purpose is to align AI value with human values. The Institute operates the Academy, Movement, Practice, Podcast, Book, and AIValueOS initiatives. These Terms apply to all of the foregoing unless specific initiatives have supplemental terms, in which case those supplemental terms also apply.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Site. By using the Site, you represent and warrant that you are of legal age and have the capacity to agree to these Terms. The AI Values Movement and Academy programmes may have additional eligibility requirements, which will be communicated at the point of registration.

3. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including text, graphics, frameworks, methodologies, course materials, podcast episodes, book excerpts, trademarks, and logos — is the property of The AI Values Institute or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

"The AI Values Institute," "AI Values," the Institute logo, and related marks are trademarks of the organisation.

You may access and use Site content for personal, non-commercial, educational purposes only. You may not:

• Reproduce, republish, distribute, or commercially exploit any content without our prior written consent.
• Modify or create derivative works from Institute materials.
• Remove any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
• Use Institute content to train AI models or for automated data extraction without written authorisation.

4. Academy and Programme Enrolment

Enrolment in Academy programmes, workshops, or certifications is subject to additional enrolment terms and any applicable fees communicated at registration. We reserve the right to modify programme content, scheduling, or delivery format. Certification is contingent on meeting participation and assessment requirements as defined per programme.

5. AI Values Movement — Organisational Pledges

Organisations that formally join the AI Values Movement agree to the specific pledge terms communicated at the time of commitment. Pledge commitments are voluntary and no warranties are made about commercial outcomes.

The Institute reserves the right to publish organisational membership information, including the organisation name and pledge, unless confidentiality is agreed in writing.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to use the Site or any of our programmes to:

• Upload, post, or transmit any unlawful, harmful, defamatory, or offensive content.
• Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users, participants, or Institute staff.
• Impersonate any person or organisation or misrepresent your affiliation.
• Infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of any third party.
• Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code.
• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Circumvent any technical measures protecting the Site.

7. User-Generated Content

Where the Site allows you to submit comments, forum posts, or other content, you retain ownership but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, display, and distribute your submissions in connection with the Institute's mission.

You represent that your submissions do not infringe any third-party rights and comply with these Terms. We may remove any submissions at our discretion.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, PROGRAMMES, AND RESOURCES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT PROGRAMME CONTENT WILL ACHIEVE ANY PARTICULAR OUTCOME. YOUR USE OF THE SITE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE AI VALUES INSTITUTE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE OR PROGRAMMES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE FEES YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR £100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

10. Third-Party Links and Services

The Site links to third-party websites and services, including the AIValueOS platform, partner organisations, and social media channels. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of those sites and your use of them is at your own risk.

11. Privacy

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy at www.theaivalues.org/privacy-policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Site or any programme at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law. Upon termination, all licences granted to you will immediately cease.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory local law requires otherwise.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised Terms on the Site and updating the effective date. Continued use of the Site after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance.
